Intellectual Property: What you need to know
Certified dating (or time-stamping via the BlockChain) makes it possible to date a work, an idea or a concept. In practical terms, e-PowerDoc protection enables an author to prove that he or she is the creator of a work (ideas, images, drawings, concepts, files, music, videos, documents, etc.) in the event of plagiarism.
Certified dating (or time-stamping via BlockChain) is not a title to industrial property. If you wish to protect an industrial work (trademark, patent), you must also register it with INPI (France), EUIPO (EEC) or OMPI (International).
Ideas and methods cannot be registered as such, but if they are detailed and explained in a document, they can be dated in order to show their anteriority and thus prove the date on which they were created, which constitutes optimal protection in 177 countries.
How it works
When you upload your document (creation, files, business document, drawing, concept presentation, music, video, photo, etc.), your document never leaves your computer. Our encryption engine calculates a unique code corresponding to your file or document. This encrypted code is called the HASH code. This code is unique in the world, and can only correspond to one document: yours. This code is then inserted into the BlockChain used to secure BitCoin transactions. This BlockChain is, according to experts, the most secure and tamper-proof in the world.
In the event of a dispute with a plagiarist
simply show proof of dating. Your lawyer will show it to the judge in the country concerned if there is a lawsuit. In the vast majority of cases, the plagiarist tries to reach an amicable settlement through compensation, as case law favors the author of the protected creation. e-PowerDoc's certified dating protection is recognized in over 177 countries. Our time-stamping system is based on the BlockChain algorithms used for BitCoin transactions, which are recognized in virtually every country in the world.
The fact that you receive your file at your e-mail address, and an opening code by SMS, constitutes proof of your identity. To complete this, it's best to add a photo of your identity card (which remains on your computer). You should also add your name as file creator to the "Tags" of the files you protect. All this forms a body of evidence as to your identity, subject to the discretionary judgement of a judge. Should this evidence be contested, e-PowerDoc cannot be held responsible.
